Match Report
A second Sunday of the season and a second wash out. This time the Met Office was the bringer of bad news with a very poor forecast for later in the afternoon. The Min, who travel form the Metroplis were understandably reluctant to travel for the prospect of half a game, even with the promise of Vadivale tea.
With the pitch prepped and ready for play a gallant gang of players took the rare chance for a practice on the grass. The outfield was trimmed, the pitch rolled and stumps pitched. On cue at 1.30 Tim House delivered the first delivery of the season to George Williams. In the field the Chairman was taking his position for the first time in four and a half years, a brace of Bartons patrolled the covers while Jamie Lumb kept wicket. A very spritely David Moorman offered to umpire at square leg, while Richard Lumb officiated at the bowlers end.
During the following hour and half some very rusty older limbs were coaxed into action with batters having six overs at the crease and bowlers having three or four over each. A smattering of spectators patrolled the boundary as watery sunshine kept the rain at bay. Heavy rain eventually arrived at what would have been the mid point of the second innings. Next week we hope for better conditions as Oxenford provide the opposition.
